So I was going through my day when suddenly I recalled something I read a while ago and it refuses to get out of my head. The General gist of the story was as follows:

There once was a kingdom that was plagued by a race of mist/fog-like beings (Fairies?) whenever the sun would go down.

The only thing that could ward them off were a special type of tree, so the king of the country surrounded his castle with them.

However, this allowed the Fog/Mist-People to essentially cover the kingdom, forcing the King to leave to seek help.

At some point in the story there were only four people left in the castle, the King's children, his major-domo (who had more clothes than he knew what to do with) and the children's horrid caretaker.

The Mist-People promisted to leave a boat by the river to allow one person to escape if they chopped down one of the trees keeping them out.

The caretaker tried to get the Major-Domo to do it but he refused, so she cut down the tree herself and sailed away, never to be seen again.

As the Fog rolled in the children and the Major-Domo sealed the castle as best they could, tearing the Major-Domo's clothes to shreds to block any holes they could find.

While the Children slept, the Major-domo explored the castle. Just before Sunrise, he was horrified to discover that they had forgotten to block a keyhole and that the mist was seeping in, trying to open the door.

Without hesitating, the Major-Domo threw himself against the door, blocking the keyhole with his body. However, even as he did so, he felt a sudden chill cut through him like a knife.

When the children awoke the following morning, it was to the sound of trumpets heralding their father's return with an army. As they raced down the stairs to greet him, they found the Major-Domo's body lying against the door, dead, with nary a mark on him.

If anyone has ever heard of this story, or something similar, please let me know and give me the title, as I'd really like to read it again.

With the release of FNAF 4 providing an answer to the mystery surrounding the 'bite of 87' I figured i'd give this a whirl.

• Purple Guy uses this flaw to dismantle the animatronics, unwittingly freeing the children’s spirits.
• The children's spirits corner Purple Man in the Safe Room forcing him to hide in Springtrap.
• Believing himself to be safe, Purple Guy laughs causing the spring locks to fail, crushing him.
• Purple Guy’s spirit begins haunting the Springtrap Animatronic.
• 30 years later, an amusement park bases their house of horror, Fazbear’s Fright, on the Pizzeria.

FAZBEAR’S FRIGHT (FNAF3)

• Night 1: Security Guard tests equipment & the Managers discover Springtrap in the old Pizzeria.
• Night 2: Springtrap & Phone Guy messages added and the Phantom Animatronics activate.
• Night 3-5: Security Guard learns the origins of Springtrap & Fredbear Costumes.
• Night 6: Security Guard learns that the back room was sealed off.
• Post Night 6: Attraction burns down along with Springtrap. Children’s souls finally at peace.
• Surviving goods are put up for auction, (including Springtrap?)

My reasons for including the events of FNAF 2 & FNAF 4 are clear from the ending of the latter, which clearly depicts the events of the 'Bite of 87', which was previously determined to have occured the day AFTER Jeremy's last night as Night Guard, during a Birthday party. As seen following night 5 in FNAF 4, the protagonist (The Crying Boy) is bitten by Fredbear (Golden Freddy) during a birthday & there are clearly other animatronics around so it clearly takes place prior to the events of FNAF, post FNAF2 at best.

Probably not the first person to attempt something like this, and I most certainly won't be the last.
That being said, let's get this show on the Road.

Explanations: how I reached this conclusion.

1. From the Episode 'Cutie Pox'. Twilight states that the disease was first recorded during the Paleo-Pony Period.
2. According to the Diary of the 2 Sisters, the Crystal Empire was already around before they were crowned rulers of Equestria. As such, we can assume Princess Amore 'found' the Crystal Heart sometime during the initial Exodus, but prior to their Coronation.
   
3. In the Diary of the Two Sisters, we learn that Starswirl (long brown beard) was the one who asked the Sisters to become Rulers of Equestria. as such, all of the events detailed in the diary of the 2 Sisters takes place AFTER the formation of Equestria.
4. According to his Fiendship is Magic Issue, Sombra, couldn't approach the Crystal Heart without almost killing himself until awakening as an Umbra. As such, we can assume he was 'rescued' by the guard as a colt sometime during the expedition to retrieve the Heart. Also, given the absence of the Elements of Harmony during his defeat, both in the comic & Celestia's flashback during 'The Crystal Empire', we can assume the Sister's didn't feel the need to use them on him. Which would also explain why the empire was lost with him.
5. This one is a little harder to place. We know at the very least that Equestria was formed & that at the very least Celestia was ruling, as King Vorak mentions her fury should she learn of Sendak kidnapping a unicorn. However, as Discord is present for Tirek's interrogation, we can assume it's prior to his being sealed away. It would also explain how Tirek & discord knew one another.
6. It is clear from the state of Celestia & Luna are in when they retrieve the elements that they tried, and failed, to confront Discord without them. This gives further credence to the theory that Sombra was defeated without the use of the elements, thus resulting in the loss of the Crystal Empire due to his 'curse' not being cancelled out. 
7. The reason for this is simply due to the difference in title from the comic & the cartoon. In the comic, he is known as 'Prince' Tirek 7 is plotting to overthrow his father. However, Celestia & Luna later refer to him as 'Lord' Tirek when explaining the threat to Twilight.
8. The placing for this is due to Starswirl being described as a 'Young Unicorn Wizard' despite his Gray Beard, which we learned, thanks to the Princess Diary, was due to Magical Exhaustion during the event which earned them their Cutie Marks. As such, while Starswirl is depicted with a Grey Beard in the Flashback, he is still relatively young physically.
9. During the battle with Nightmare Moon, it is clear that the Everfree Castle was still in use. However, during the events of her Fiendship is Magic Issue, we see Nightmare inciting riots in Canterlot, where Celestia most likely moved out of grief, unable to remain in the castle she built with her Sister.
10. This issue explains how Luna can walk in dreams & provides an explanation for the later 'Nightmare Rarity' incident. It also confirms that, sometime after their battle, Celestia left to found a new Capital in Canterlot.
11. Despite his beard, Starswirl still appears to be relatively young, lacking the 'bags under the eyes' that most 'elderly' ponies seem to develop. Furthermore, the Sirens see Canterlot as a place to 'Make it Big', which implies the city has some importance, most likely due to it being the Capital of Equestria.
12. Starswirl is depicted as being MUCH older in the comic, implying that Luna/Nightmare Moon has been banished for some time. This is given further credence due to Mirror Equestria's passage of time 'Mirroring' that of the real world, as Mirror-Luna is as overjoyed to see 'Her sister' as Celestia is to see her.
13. It is established in 'Reflections' that, despite his age, Starswirl still goes out on expeditions, which Celestia used as a means of entering the Mirror to see Mirror-Sombra. As his appearance is near identical to the one from Reflections, it's possible he unwittingly unleashed them prior to forbidding Celestia from using the mirror again, or perhaps shortly after.
14. According to Chrysalis' issue of Fiendship is magic, once released, the Changelings essentially made like a swarm of locusts, feeding off any pony civilization they could, until Celestia sealed them in a volcano. It's possible this outbreak was what forced the Smith/Apple Family to seek her aide in the first place.
15. In 'The Fall of Sunset Shimmer', we can clearly see Filly Twilight Sparkle playing with an older Cadance & Shining Armour in the background of one scene. Additionally, going by her Prom Queen photos, Sunset was only on the other side for 3-4 years by the events of Equestria Girls, yet this clearly isn't the case for Equestria as Twilight is not only a full-grown mare, but an Alicorn as well. from this, we can determine that time flows differently between the worlds of Equestria & Equestria Girls.
16. While Cadance became a foal-sitter after ascending to Alicorn-hood & being adopted as Celestia's Niece, her body clearly went through some changes between being adopted & the first time we see her (Twilight's Flashback) compared to her appearance during the events of 'Neigh Never' and 'A Canterlot Wedding'.
17. As mentioned above, Cadance is shown with Shining Armour & Twilight. While this doesn't necessarily imply that she & Shining are dating at this point, it would explain why Twilight would need her Foal-sitter despite Shining being there, meaning this could very well take place after the events of their Prom in Neigh Never.
18. Rainbow Dash is lacking her Cutie Mark during the announcement, so this clearly takes place prior to her 1st Sonic Rainboom.
19. During Applejack's Cutie-Mark Story, Applebloom & her parents are clearly absent despite the presence of Granny Smith & lil' Macintosh. This would imply Applebloom was too young to be present, and that her parents had likely passed away by this point.
20. During the events of 'Nightmare Rarity', Luna is clearly shown with her old hairstyle from her Season 1 Premiere in Episode Two & only gains her 'Astral' Mane in the 4th, concluding issue of the Story. Furthermore, the presence of Trixie implies that the events of Boast Busters already transpired, though her comments seem to erroneously imply the events of Magical Duel occurred as well.
21. The events of ROQC clearly take place after the events of 'A Canterlot Wedding'. As twilight is a Unicorn throughout the tale, and the comic itself was released prior to Season 3, we can also assume this predates the events of The Crystal Empire.
22. The events of Big Mac's adventure to find nails to fix the Gazebo take place during the Summer Wrap Up fair, which would imply it takes place sometime near the end of summer & beginning of Autumn.
23. The events of the Micro Series of Comics clearly take place while Twilight is still a unicorn sometime before the events of Season 3.
24. The Events of 'Equestria Girls' supposedly take place directly after the conclusion of Magical Mystery Cure.
25. Twilight is portrayed as an Alicorn in every issue of the comics from this point onward.
26. The CMc & most of Canterlot high still harbor resentment towards sunset. Twilight is clearly more confident in her abilities following Tirek's defeat, evidenced by her failed attempt to use the 'Rainbow Power' to defeat the Dazzlings. In the end, Sunset has apparently redeemed herself in the eyes of her peers if the CMC & Bulk Bicep's actions are any indication.
27. is clearly Winter Season. The CMC are initially fine with their siblings/idol hanging out with Sunset & clearly show remorse for their actions of trying to split them up due to their mistaken belief that Sunset is stealing them away. As they end up on good terms, this implies they already made up with Sunset following the events of Rainbow Rocks.
